Bamboo is actually 17% harder than maple making it a superior material for cutting boards and bread boards. Our unique products are handcrafted using flattened bamboo strips. We do not use stains or paint on our cutting boards & bread boards to obtain the color. Through a very specialized heating process, the natural sugar in the wood is caramelized producing the beautiful carbonized (honey) color. This color is permanent and will not wash off.
Bamboo is a grass that grows to a harvestable height between 3 to 4 years, some species growing up to 2 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting making it one of the world's most renewable resources.
Bamboo holds the promise of a sustainable cost effective and ecologically responsible alternative to the wide spread clear cutting of the world's hard wood forests.
